Melwood Prince Georges County Open

What a great golf course! On tour we dont get to play golf courses like this one very often. The layout of the course required you to work the ball both ways and had some very good risk/reward par fives. This was the first year that the Nationwide Tour made a stop in Prince Georges County. At the beginning of the week the course was starting to get firm and it looked like you werent going to be able to attack the course but as the week went on they had to water the course a lot due to the heat. We had temps in the upper 80's with high humidity. With the greens being soft, the course was attackable and yielded lower scores.
I was definately pleased with the way that I played. I had a few things happen that just show me that I never stop learning. There were a couple of decisions on par 5's that I shouldn't have made but I am going to learn from them and not let me happen again.
I am looking forward to next week in Chicago because I am playing well and this tournament is like a major championship for the Nationwide Tour. The golf course is a good one and it is usually windy there, so that is in my favor! I will keep you udated next week on how Chicago went.

BMW Charity Pro-Am

Sorry that this blog entry is late but I didnt have internet access last week. This was a great week! We played three different golf courses during the tournament. Two of the golf courses were in North Carolina and the other was in South Carolina. It was a bit of a drive every day because it was 60 miles to one course, 35 miles to another and about 15 miles to the other.
Every pro played with one amatuer for three of the days and then only 14 teams made the cut for sunday. My pro am partner was a nice guy from Louisianna but the other amatuer in my group was David James Elliot. For those of you who dont know that is, he is an actor from the TV show "JAG". For a movie star he is a great guy and a very good athlete. The area was absolutely beautiful. The courses were in some breath taking mountains with great views!
Over all I was pretty happy with the way that I played. We had some wind one of the days, which created a challenge. I just need a few more puts to fall during a couple of the rounds and I would have been right there.

Henrico County Open

What a great test this golf course put up! The rough was some of the longest that I have ever seen. The were a couple of times where I tried to hit a sand wedge back into the fairway but the ball was sitting down so bad that I only advanced it a couple yards! I felt like I got off to a good start the first two days and also on Saturday. Everything seemed to be coming into form. Unfortunately on Sunday my back started giving me problems again and hindered my swing. After the final round I decided to withdraw from this weeks tournament and come home to get my back worked on and strengthen it so that this will not continue to happen. It is very frustrating for me to not be able to play golf normally because of something out of my control. Well I will keep you informed after my next tournament which is in South Carolina in two weeks.
